Monday on the road to Bacalar with stops at
The Pemex station and Limones
(a town with children)
↓
Pemex station. This boy washed our very dirty windows and we gave him a coin.
↓
↓
Drinks purchased in the gas station’s convenience store.
Joe liked the Café Ole.
I was impressed with the Kelloggs
All Bran — yes it is a drink!
↓
↓
Restrooms at the station and attendant selling toilet paper (for a couple of pennies).
↓
↓
I liked the way they had posted the local emergency phone numbers.

Late afternoon stop in Limones.

A typical house and yard in the town of Limones.

Josh photographing Limones’ own Maya temple.

Three neighborhood boys came to greet us
↓
↓
Manuel, Xavier, and Mario
↓
↓
Then a couple of girls appeared: Anita and Abby?
↓
↓
They encouraged us to climb
↓
↓
So we did
↓
↓
To the top. (Here I am just showing off the telephoto on my nice new camera.)
↓
↓
The view was great! Note the little rectangular houses with the oval (hip) roofs,
and one without its thatch.
↓
↓
A caved-in roof. Evidence of Hurricane Dean?
↓
↓
Water tower from up high — right next to and a
little taller than the town’s pyramid
↓
↓
A big move toward a better water supply in Mexico
↓
↓ We were able to read: “for a future with water,”
but not the other slogan. (None of us speak Spanish.)
↓
↓
More kids appeared before we left, bringing us fruit and flowers.
These are 3 handsome young people of Limones. Note that the day is
getting late and we are not in Bacalar yet!
↓
↓
Down the road aways we saw this typical colorful cemetery
